Come and visit!
Ahh, for our January stocking at Universal Mama, we decided to celebrate newborns. I must say, I had some serious baby fever after sewing tiny things!
I just wanted to share the collaboration between our newest Artisan, Andrea of Dwell Wool Knits and myself. Welcome Andrea and thank you for teaming up with me, I had a blast!
The first set is for a new baby girl. I made and appliqued the crossover top to match the wool longies knit by Andrea. The yarn she used is 'Snow Blossoms' by Mosaic Moon and is SO gorgeous!
The second set was for a new baby boy and the yarn Andrea used was 'Iced Giraffes' by Nurturing Threads. I used a blank lap tee which I tea stained and appliqued with a little owl. (Perfect for that new little night owl!)
Thanks for stopping by! Hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start.

Lindsey
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I know we did! This year was much more low key then previous Christmas' due to my husbands layoff in August. But I can honeslty say that it was so special despite our circumstances and just goes to show you the Holidays are about your family and giving. Things don't have to be pricey when they come from the heart.
My little boy is SUCH a Thomas fan and we wanted him to have a train table for Christmas. We decided that making one would be not only special but cost effective and it turned out great! R (and L for that matter) thought it was fantastic!
It's funny how when you DIY the gifts turn out better then if you had all the money in the world to buy something premade! Just wanted to share our little train table. The train set is a Thomas set bought from Target.
We bought a small table from Goodwill for $5.00 (solid wood, no less!) and used it as the base. My husband sanded and painted the table. We then used a scrap piece of MDF board as the table top and framed the corners in quarter round to give a lip to the table.
The rest of the MDF was added to the prebought table as a shelf. I'm going to add a few baskets so the kids can clean up the trains and have imaginative play if they'd like. I then painted the scene on the top and we sealed it with clear coat. We used wood glue to secure the two pieces together. You could definitely use nails if you'd like, but the MDF is very heavy and with the dimensions of the supporting table, it doesn't move at all.
Add the train set and VOILA! Saved approx $400! WOOHOO.

I painted a little farm with veggie garden, stone walkway and picket fence. My MIL built a little barn from popsicle sticks and got the kids these fabulous animals for Christmas.
Helipad for the future Harold. A Target subsitute is standing in with the conductor.
Whimsical pond with splashing fish.
Forest with stream running through.
My little girl received a refurbished baby cradle and stroller, I'll be sure and post pictures soon.

Lindsey
Feeling the Christmas spirit!
Phew. I am finally on the mend after what seemed like weeks and weeks of being sick and a crazy diagnosis. Ramsey Hunt Syndrome, anyone? In layman's terms, shingles + bells palsy affecting the left side of my face. yuck.
Anyhow... I am one who LOVES Christmas, so just the fact that it's December has me jumping for J.O.Y. Today I will be sharing some things that I have sewn up to stock this Saturday, Dec. 6th. Holiday inspired tees for your little snowflakes. I will try and ship everything on Saturday to ensure the fastest delivery possible for mucho holiday wearage.
We have: 'Peace Offering' Size 18/24 months
'Retro Partridge in a Pear Tree' Size 12/18 months
And last but not least, 'Let it Snow' Size 18/24 months
This time of year gets my creative juices really flowing, so I will be sharing some of the Holiday crafts and things that are being made for our home and family. Happy December!

Linds
Well, those of you who I am currently working with know, but for everyone else... I have a case of shingles/adult chicken pox and it sucks. Big time! I'm having to put my sewing on hold for a bit so that I can focus on getting better asap. I appreciate everyone's patience, understanding and well wishes. You all are so so sweet!
It's been a week, and I'm hoping it won't be much longer. I hope. Did I mention it's been a week? Waaaah. I miss my sewing machine. I'm guessing it's smart not to sew, the medicine says 'do not operate heavy machinery.' Hmmm, does a sewing machine really count?... Just kidding.
Anyway, in lieu of sewing pics I wanted to share some of my littles. I needed some fresh air yesterday and my husband had a great idea to enjoy the beautiful fall day--Leaves! The kids had a blast and I have some sweet memories to cherish.

The world of Work-at-home-moms is very close knit and supportive. I was sad to learn that a fellow WAHM, Colleen of Spiffy Knits, passed away last week. While I wasn't a close friend of hers, I was a customer and she was just such an amazing woman.
Colleen was diagnosed 2 months ago with a very rare form of liver cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. She has left behind her husband and two young children. Many WAHM's have gathered together to put on a Charity event in her honor.
Please join the Tiny Lady Cooperative Oct 28th through Nov 4th. Many of Colleen's own dyed yarn and other wonderful things will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go into a college fund for her 2 children.
I have joined up with Kim from Western Sky Knits to bring you a fun collab with some gorgeous yarn and a tee/flat set. Here are some previews, this set will stock here Oct. 4th at 11am. Hope to see you there. :)
